 Review - Using Kahoot!
Picture
Step 1: Pre-Instructional Activity –  Bell Ringer
A young sumo wrestler decided to go on a special high-protein diet to gain weight rapidly. He started at 90 kilograms and gained weight at a constant rate. After 8 months, he weighed 138 kilograms.
Let W(t) denote the sumo wrestler's weight W (measured in kilograms) as a function of time t (measured in months).
Write the function's formula. (Khan Academy, 2018)

Step 2: Learner Participation – Teacher will project the Kahoot! website on the Smartboard and go to the functions review. Review for Assessment –Rather than give out a packet of review information, Kahoot is used to engage students in question games. Usually I can get through two 25 question rounds in a class period. The nice part about using Kahoot as a review is that I can stop the game if the I feel that the percentage who answered correctly fall below a certain threshold, usually 70%. At that time, I can go to the board and try a different means of instruction to help students understand the concept.

Step 3: Assessment – Students will be assessed using the following behavior rubric.

Step 4: Exit Ticket
  • Ask students to remember the activities from the two-day lesson. Pose the following 2 questions for their written response:
    • What method of student participation do you like best, and why?
    • What is one area you are still struggling with?
